The Toba eruption at 77 ka was a very nice explanation for lot of interlocking mutually confirming data and now all that seems to be completely thrown over by Lane et al. I expect some refutations and lively discussion to come. Interestingly Lane et al. do see a significant cooling of nearly seven degrees but spread out across some 10 ka before the eruption, which itself seems to come just after a precipitous jump back up six degrees.
The physicist and eminent materials scientist Colin Humphreys offers a very convincing disentanglement of the Gospels’ accounts of Holy Week.
